King Charles III, the reigning monarch of Great Britain, reacted on Thursday to news of former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest – the king’s younger brother.
“I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office,” the king said in an official statement.
He continued, “What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation.”
As reported by RSBN, the former Prince Andrew was arrested on Thursday amid a British investigation into alleged official misconduct linked to his connection with the late and disgraced Jeffrey Epstein.
This also comes after millions of documents were released by the U.S. Department of Justice, drawing considerable speculation and online murmurs surrounding those mentioned in the documents, for good or for bad.
Some of those documents seem to suggest that the disgraced former prince – who was stripped of his title in 2025 over his longtime alleged relationship with Epstein – may have shared sensitive information with the late financier while in an official government capacity.
Additionally, the family of the late Virginia Roberts Giuffre, an American woman who spoke publicly about the alleged abuse she endured at the hands of Jeffrey Epstein, released a statement heralding the former prince’s arrest.
“On behalf of our sister, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, we extend our gratitude to the U.K.’s Thames Valley Police for their investigation, and the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor,” the family said in a statement to CBS News. “He was never a prince. For survivors everywhere, Virginia did this for you.”
The late Ms. Giuffre died by reported suicide in 2025. She had accused former Prince Andrew of assaulting her on several occasions while she was just 17 years old, after allegedly being trafficked by Epstein. The former prince denied those allegations, but settled with her out-of-court, per the outlet.
President Donald Trump even reacted to the news of Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest on Thursday while gaggling with the press aboard Air Force One. “I think it’s very sad, I think it’s so bad for the Royal Family,” the president said.
