Lara Trump will travel to the Palmetto State this week, where she will campaign for her father-in-law’s reelection bid just days before the South Carolina Republican primary election.
According to the Trump campaign, Ms. Trump will deliver a speech at a Team Trump South Carolina Event in Beaufort on Wednesday, February 21, at 2:30 p.m. ET.
She will also speak at another campaign event just a few hours later. She is tentatively scheduled to speak at 5:00 p.m. ET at the Team Trump South Carolina Headquarters in North Charleston.
President Trump is leading by wide margins in the South Carolina GOP primary. His only opponent is Nikki Haley, the state’s former Republican governor. According to a recent Emerson College poll, Haley trails behind Trump by at least 23 points.
Another poll from Suffolk/USA Today showed Trump leading Haley among those “very likely to vote” in the primary election with a margin of 63 percent against 35 percent.
Suffolk University Political Research Center Director David Paleologos told USA Today, “The story of this poll is the depth of strength shown by Trump.”
Lara Trump’s appearance in South Carolina comes just a couple of weeks after her father-in-law endorsed her for the position of co-chair of the Republican National Committee. The 45th president also endorsed North Carolina Republican Party Chair Michael Whatley for chairman and his senior advisor, Chris LaCavita, for Chief Operating Officer.
Ms. Trump has vowed to reshape the fighting attitude of the RNC if she wins the position of co-chair. She explained recently to Newsmax, “The RNC needs to be the leanest, most lethal political fighting machine we’ve ever seen in American history. That is the goal over the next nine-and-a-half months.”
During a conversation with Turning Point USA President Charlie Kirk, Lara Trump even named Republican voting registration activist Scott Presler for spearheading voter registration and Get Out the Vote Efforts in a freshly revamped Republican National Committee.
