The Republican National Committee released research on Thursday revealing that President Donald Trump is receiving overwhelming support from America’s law enforcement.
The study noted that many police officers are concerned with Democrats’ response to public safety and soft-on-crime policies that have grown under the Biden-Harris administration.
“Police are fed up with Democrats’ lack of respect for public safety and know that President Trump is the only candidate who will stand up for law enforcement and be tough on crime,” the RNC study stated.
The wide range of support includes the National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), the nation’s largest police force.
FOP President Patrick Yoes recently shared a statement of the group’s endorsement of Trump.
“Our members carefully considered the positions of the candidates on the issues and there was no doubt—zero doubt—as to who they want as our President for the next four years: Donald J. Trump,” Yoes wrote in a statement earlier this month.
“During his first term, President Trump made it clear he supported law enforcement and border security. In the summer of 2020, he stood with us when very few would. With his help, we defeated the ‘defund the police’ movement,” he added.
Other national law enforcement groups supporting Trump include the National Association of Police Organizations and the International Union of Police Organizations, according to the RNC.
At the state level, Trump has been endorsed by law enforcement groups in Michigan, Arizona and Florida.
The support for Trump also comes in response to growing crime statistics under the Biden-Harris administration.
Violent crime is up 37 percent, rape is up 42 percent, robbery is up 63 percent, assault is up 34 percent, violent crime (excluding simple assault) is up 55 percent, domestic violence is up 32 percent, stranger violence is up 61 percent and motor vehicle theft is up 42 percent since Harris and Biden took office, the RNC wrote, quoting the Justice Department’s National Crime Victimization Survey.
Harris has also been criticized by the law enforcement community over her past remarks in support of defunding the police. In June 2020, Harris said she believes “we have to redirect resources” from police to other areas of government, the RNC reported.
Harris has also donated thousands of dollars to Legal Aid DC, a nonprofit organization pushing efforts to defund the police.
