A leader from Steamfitters Local Union 638 revealed that President Donald Trump is gaining unprecedented support from its union members in New York.

Bob Bartels, a former Democrat and business manager of the union, joined “Fox & Friends” on Thursday to share that Trump is polling far ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris among its members.

“On my end, the Steamfitters have voted in the poll, we have a 70% return in favor of President Trump,” Bartels stated.

“Everything that’s gone on the last four years. An open border, inflation, gas prices, oil, mortgage rates. I mean, I can go on and on and on. The immigrants just getting into neighborhoods like the neighborhood I grew up in,” he added as part of his explanation.

The interview comes one day after the Teamsters Union revealed that most of the members in its poll chose Trump over Harris. Trump received 59.6 percent support in an email poll while Harris received 34 percent. The remaining 6.4 percent chose other candidates.

“For the past year, the Teamsters Union has pledged to conduct the most inclusive, democratic, and transparent Presidential endorsement process in the history of our 121-year-old organization—and today we are delivering on that promise to our members,” said Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien.

“Our members are the union, and their voices and opinions must be at the forefront of everything the Teamsters do. Our final decision around a possible Presidential endorsement will not be made lightly, but you can be sure it will be driven directly by our diverse membership,” he added.

The union ultimately chose not to endorse any presidential candidate, a contrast with decades of tradition of supporting Democrats.

“Democrats, Republicans, and Independents proudly call our union home, and we have a duty to represent and respect every one of them. We strongly encourage all our members to vote in the upcoming election, and to remain engaged in the political process. But this year, no candidate for President has earned the endorsement of the Teamsters’ International Union,” O’Brien announced in a separate statement on Wednesday.

Trump’s campaign called the non-endorsement “a humiliating loss for Kamala,” citing a long list of mainstream news networks on the story. Quotes included a comment from Politico stating, “The non-endorsement is a sizable blow for Vice President Kamala Harris.”
