When Robert F. Kennedy Jr. joined President Donald Trump’s campaign in 2024, nobody could have guessed just how effectively Kennedy would work to reform and revive the American food industry as the new Secretary of Health and Human Services – but the MAHA track record speaks for itself.

This week, dozens of U.S. ice cream producers pledged to remove artificial dyes from their products by the end of 2027, according to the International Dairy Foods Association.

“I am proud of ice cream makers and dairy foods companies for stepping up for American families by making this voluntary commitment to provide ice cream and frozen dairy treats without certified artificial colors,” IDFA president and CEO Michael Dykes said in an official statement.

On Monday, Secretary Kennedy and USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins joined Dykes at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Headquarters, applauding the move.

“The American people have made it clear—they want real food, not chemicals. Together with USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins and FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, we’re holding the food industry accountable and driving a nationwide effort to Make America Healthy Again,” Kennedy stated.

Rollins also praised the ice cream industry’s decision, noting that it would help American families “make better choices and pursue healthier lives.”

According to the IDFA, certified artificial colors on the chopping block by 2028 include:

  • Red 3,
  • Red 40,
  • Green 3,
  • Blue 1,
  • Blue 2,
  • Yellow 5,
  • Yellow 6.

The ice cream industry is not the only American enterprise that has been quick to adopt the MAHA agenda. Kennedy’s push to eliminate food dyes and potentially hazardous chemical ingredients in Americans’ food has incentivized major companies, including Pepsi, Sam’s Club, Hershey, In-N-Out, Kraft-Heinz, Skittles, McCormick, and Tyson Foods, to eliminate artificial colors and flavors.
