Manhattan prosecutor does not object to delaying Trump’s sentencing after Supreme Court immunity ruling

Michael Cohen, Trump's former attorney, will take the stand again to continue his cross examination by the defense in the former president's hush money trial. Cohen is the prosecution's final witness in the trial and are expected to rest their case this week. President Trump is scheduled for sentencing on July 11 regarding the falsified documents related to the Stormy Daniels hush money trial. However, following the Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision in favor of presumptive presidential immunity from criminal prosecution, Trump’s legal team has also filed a motion to postpone the sentencing by two weeks due to a lack of “merit.”

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg isn’t “opposed to delaying the sentencing,” according to a response letter obtained from AP News.

If granted, this delay would coincide with the start of the RNC convention in Milwaukee on July 15. If the sentencing is rescheduled to July 24, 2024, Trump will first become the official Republican presidential candidate.

The weaponized Department of Justice’s efforts to silence Trump in a presidential election year are now failing. President Trump’s legal team seeks to reverse the verdict entirely.
