President Donald Trump blasted Special Counsel Jack Smith on Monday as a “wacko prosecutor” following the Supreme Court’s ruling in favor of presidential immunity.
Trump released the statement in a Truth Social post following the 6-3 decision.
“A really bad day for Deranged Jack Smith, the wacko prosecutor used for Crooked Joe Biden’s attack on his Political Opponent. Today, as in the past, the Supreme Court gave the Deranged One a high level SPANKING!” Trump wrote.
His attacks also extended to other Biden administration leaders in his call for an end to the legal battles against him during his presidential campaign.
“His ‘real’ bosses, Andrew Weissmann and Lisa Monaco, not to mention Merrick Garland, whose once great reputation has been shattered by these Thugs, and his constant defense of Crooked Joe, must be furious at him. Garland ought to call an end to this never ending HOAX, and let people focus on bringing back Greatness to America!” Trump added.
Trump continued to celebrate the court’s ruling through a number of other statements released on his Social Truth account Monday.
“BIG WIN FOR OUR CONSTITUTION AND DEMOCRACY. PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!” he first wrote after the ruling’s announcement.
“The Supreme Court totally dismantled most of the charges against me. Joe Biden should now call off his ‘dogs.’ Our Country should now be focused on GREATNESS again!” he soon added.
Trump was not alone in celebrating the historic ruling and attacking Smith. Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley also spoke out on the legal victory.
“Today’s ruling is a victory for the rule of law and a reminder that the constitution outweighs the left’s weaponization of the judicial system against President Trump and his allies,” he wrote.
One area impacted by the ruling is the case against Trump concerning Jan. 6. The trial is now unlikely to happen until at least 2025, according to NBC News. If Trump is elected president in November, a trial may be dropped altogether.
Smith’s legal team will likely argue that the charges against Trump can stand despite the ruling. The case will now be returned to the lower court, where U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan must determine whether the legal challenge can move forward.
The case includes four felony counts from Smith, including conspiracy to defraud the U.S. and conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding. Trump has pleaded not guilty and denied any wrongdoing.
