Fiery Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz (R) lit up the stage at CPAC on Friday, bringing a rousing, patriotic message for attenders who are discouraged by the sad state of today’s Union. “I sense a true uneasiness around our country right now,” he said. “Here at home, we see layoffs by the thousands. We are concerned that the jobs for Americans aren’t generating higher wages. More and more companies are suspending their plans for promotions and capital investment and growth. “
He added, “It bears a stark and concerning contrast to the roaring Trump economy where we made things and produced things and were the envy of the world.”
Gaetz highlighted the successes of the Republican-controlled House of Representatives so far in 2023, slamming Washington politicians for being “husks” of humans. “…I am proud to stand before you as the only Republican in the US who refuses all donations from every lobbyist…,” he continued. “Their money is no good for me, I work for YOU and YOU ALONE!”
Gaetz reflected on the four-day battle for the speakership in January, noting the historic concessions that he and 19 other House Republicans fought for in exchange for their votes to secure Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., as the new Speaker of the House. He also noted the victory in the formation of a group of legislators to investigate the weaponization of the Federal Government at the behest of the Judiciary Committee.
“I don’t care if it takes every second of our time and every ounce of our energy, we either get this government back on our side or we defund and get rid of – abolish – the FBI, CDC, ATF, DOJ – every last one of them, IF THEY DO NOT COME TO HEEL,” he declared.
He went on, “It is no longer time to go back to the old low energy, Paul Ryan, Trey Gowdy days of fake oversight. These are the Jim Jordan, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz days…”
He encouraged Americans to be bold and courageous, concluding, “These are different times, these are new times, they call for boldness and patriotism.”
