President Donald Trump is seen by most Republicans as the fighter who has the best chance of beating Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election, new data from Morning Consult has found.
According to their recent survey (May 24-27), Republicans indicated that Trump was the best man for the job by a wide 30-point margin, with the president netting 55 percent of support against presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), who was preferred at 25 percent.
Trump is also the favorite to win the Republican nomination in the most recent Polymarket odds report, which found that the 45th president was favored to win at 69 percent against DeSantis’s 25 percent, illustrating a whopping 44-point gap.
Similarly, Big Village polling data found that Trump was the preferred nominee among Republicans for the primary nomination next year, gaining 57 percent of support against DeSantis’s 23 percent. In a two-way, head-to-head battle for the nomination, 63 percent preferred Trump while 37 percent preferred DeSantis.
Interestingly, Trump also won by wide margins in a Morning Consult survey that asked respondents if they trusted the 45th president or the governor of Florida on issues like the economy, immigration, and Social Security.
When pitted against each other, GOP primary voters indicated that they believed Trump would do a better job handling the economy (71 percent), immigration (70 percent), public safety (60 percent), gun policy (62 percent), relations with China (72 percent) and protecting Medicare and Social Security (60 percent).
Trump was also favored to handle national security (71 percent) and race relations (53 percent).
Additionally, Interactive Polls shared their summary of poll findings on Twitter, pointing out that Trump was seen as the candidate who had the best chance of winning the presidential election (among Republicans) via NBC/YouGov (59 percent favored), Monmouth (63 percent favored), and YouGov/Economist (58 percent favored).
On average, Trump is strongly maintaining a minimum 30-point lead in most GOP polls today.
