President Donald Trump was joined by First Lady Melania Trump on Thursday afternoon in the White House for a special ceremony honoring America’s brave military mothers as Mother’s Day approaches this weekend.

“It’s still a few days early, but let me be the first to wish everybody a Happy Mother’s Day,” the president said.

He also took a moment to thank “one of the best moms that I know, that I’ve ever seen,” the First Lady.

“She is so good with Barron,” he said. “He’s growing up strong and nice, he’s a good boy, he’s a good student. So I want to thank you, you’ve done a great job. Thank you, honey.”

He added, “She’s loved by all.”

The president also thanked the military mothers gathered at the White House and paid homage to every branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, while elevating surging recruiting numbers since he took office.

“We look forward to an incredible future for the United States Armed Forces,” he said.

The president then invited the First Lady to take the podium, where she delivered short but meaningful remarks about the beauty and challenges of motherhood.

“Motherhood: the life-changing event that makes a woman invincible and exposed at the same time,” she said.

She discussed the unique trials, worries, and concerns that mothers face throughout the years of child-rearing and even into adulthood. “All caring mothers understand this rare feeling,” she said. “Nothing against fathers, of course.”

This elicited a smile from both the First Lady, the president, and those in the room.

“Military mothers in America together have developed an extraordinary parallel journey,” she said, elevating their stories of “personal sacrifice, determination, loss, and healing.”

“Only military mothers have experienced this level of grace and resilience of American life,” she continued.

Mrs. Trump also alluded to the difficult burdens of mothers who love and care for sons and daughters serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, encouraging them to take care of themselves.

“I urge you to prioritize your well-being, nurture yourself, for your strength is the bedrock of a brighter future for our children,” she said. “By caring for ourselves, we empower the next generation to thrive. Together, let’s build a legacy of resilience and hope. Your journey matters. Embrace it.”

She described the “sacred strength of women” as a “profound force” and highlighted a mother’s ability to “inspire, uplift, and shape the future hearts of our children.”

In a thoughtful closing, she finished, “Let us unite to honor the beauty of motherhood, champion the grace of our journey, and inspire those who follow.”
