Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., has introduced articles of impeachment against Attorney General Merrick Garland after he admitted to “personally” approving the search warrant for the FBI’s raid of President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home.

“I just filed articles of impeachment against Merrick Garland,” Greene announced on Friday afternoon.

“What they’ve been doing to President Trump is political persecution. Merrick Garland has abused his position of power as attorney general to politically persecute Joe Biden’s enemies…and the whole purpose of this is to prevent President Trump from ever holding office,” the congresswoman told reporters moments before introducing the articles of impeachment.

Greene’s articles of impeachment claim Garland’s “personal approval to seek a search warrant for the raid on the home of the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, constitutes a blatant attempt to persecute a political opponent.”

Furthermore, his “effort to unseal the search warrant for the home of former President Donald J. Trump constitutes an attempt to intimidate, harass, and potentially disqualify a political challenger to President Joseph R. Biden, Jr.”
