Following his appearance at President Donald Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, billionaire entrepreneur and SpaceX founder Elon Musk called attention to the hypocrisy of the Democratic Party for being upset about his support for the 45th president.
Musk shared a post on X from Swedish journalist Peter Sweden: “The left is mad and outraged that Elon Musk is supporting Trump. But they are completely silent about George Soros buying 200 radio stations and Google supporting the Democrats…”
Musk captioned the post with his own observation of the double standard, writing, “The left controls almost all legacy media and all major search and social media companies, except this one. We strive to be a level playing field for all views. They do not.”
Musk shared another post from a user addressing the attacks against Musk after his appearance at the rally and subsequent profile photo change wearing a black Make America Great Again hat.
“There seems to be a coordinated effort today from the left attacking Elon for making 𝕏 politically biased first of all: the owner of a platform is equally entitled to free speech and shouldn’t have to hide his opinions or censor himself. He shouldn’t but even more importantly the fact that people are free to attack Elon with no censorship of their opinions shows that the platform is in fact supporting of all legal free speech, even if it’s from people he doesn’t like posting things he doesn’t like 𝕏 = free speech,” the post read.
Musk captioned the post, “Exactly,” emphasizing that he does not stifle any speech, even if it is critical of himself.
In the hours after encouraging Americans to register to vote and recruit others to do the same, Musk reiterated his call.
“Make sure everyone you know has registered to vote! Only 2 days left to do so in Georgia & Arizona,” he wrote on X, along with a video of his speech.
Musk’s new profile picture has already received 1.2 million likes and 37,000 comments. Additionally, Musk launched America PAC, which is offering $47 to anyone who refers a swing state voter to register to vote and sign the PAC’s petition.
