President Donald Trump handed Senate Republicans a new call on Tuesday night, telling them not to make a deal with Democrats to fast-track nominations before the end of the current session of Congress.

Trump shared the demand in a message to his Truth Social profile addressing the controversy.

“To all Senate Republicans: NO DEAL WITH DEMOCRATS TO FAST TRACK NOMINATIONS AT THE END OF THIS CONGRESS. I won the biggest mandate in 129 years. I will make my appointments of Very Qualified People in January when I am sworn in,” he wrote.

The call comes as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer seeks to confirm left-leaning judges before the end of his leadership in January.

“Schumer, who will lose his status as his chamber’s majority leader next year, needs to confirm just two more judges to lifetime terms this week to surpass Sen. Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) record of 234, set during Trump’s first term,” Raw Story reported. “And he intends to do just that, despite a lame-duck presidency.”

The statement also comes as Trump continues to announce his nominees and push for Senate support.

Trump has doubled down on his support of Pete Hegseth’s nomination as Secretary of Defense following rumors that a new nominee could be named. Trump shared a statement on Truth Social following a week of media attacks against Hegseth.

“Pete Hegseth is doing very well. His support is strong and deep, much more so than the Fake News would have you believe. He was a great student – Princeton/Harvard educated – with a Military state of mind,” Trump wrote.

“He will be a fantastic, high energy, Secretary of Defense Defense, one who leads with charisma and skill. Pete is a WINNER, and there is nothing that can be done to change that!!!” he added.

Over 250 veterans also signed a letter earlier this month offering support to former Hawaiian Rep. Tulsi Gabbard as Trump’s pick to serve as director of national intelligence.

The letter was signed by several well-known names, including retired Gen. Michael Flynn, former acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller, Arizona Rep. Rep. Eli Crane, Florida Rep. Brian Mast and political commentator Jack Posobiec.

“President Donald Trump’s selection of Tulsi Gabbard reflects a profound recognition of her steadfast dedication to our nation and her unwavering commitment to safeguarding the American people. While most Americans know Tulsi as a fearless and principled Congresswoman who stood up to entrenched political systems, we know her as a fellow veteran—one whose worldview was forged through the crucible of serving in combat zones and a lifelong devotion to service,” reads a letter, “American Veterans for Tulsi Gabbard,” which was published Monday.
