No, Kamala Harris – This Isn’t Just a Three-day Weekend

by RSBN

An exclusive op-ed written by Casey Wardynski, congressional candidate for Alabama’s 5th district.

After a long 15 months it almost feels like we are getting back to normal. It can be argued that this weekend is the unofficial return to life as we once knew it. More than 37 million Americans are expected to travel, mask mandates are mostly lifted, and the kids are out of school. My wife, Karen, and I cherish nothing more than surrounding ourselves with friends and family, and when something is on the grill that is icing on the cake.

This Memorial Day let us remember those that gave up those luxuries for themselves so that we could keep them. Over a million families have been touched by the loss of a loved one that was KIA since our country was founded. We must also remember that every one of us has been touched by those losses as well.

As a retired Army officer with 30 years of service, the former Assistant Secretary of the Army, and the father of service members, I’m disgusted with the already infamous tweet from Kamala Harris. It’s appalling and offensive to the families of those that made the ultimate sacrifice to see Vice President Harris frame this weekend as simply an extra day off from work.

So this weekend enjoy the holiday. Whether you’re at the beach or a cookout, just remember why you’re there: because of those who gave theirs up forever…for you.

“And if words cannot repay the debt we owe these men, surely with our actions we must strive to keep faith with them and with the vision that led them to battle and to final sacrifice.” – President Ronald Reagan

Perhaps VP Harris should listen to those words from President Reagan.
