Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Wednesday that June saw the lowest number of nationwide border encounters ever recorded, crediting the drop to policies enacted under President Donald Trump.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Noem wrote that U.S. Customs and Border Protection logged 25,243 encounters nationwide last month.

“In June, CBP had the lowest number of nationwide encounters in AMERICAN HISTORY at 25,243. This is 12% lower than the previous record, set by President @realDonaldTrump, in February 2025,” Noem posted.

“The numbers don’t lie—under President Trump’s leadership, @DHSgov and @CBP have shattered records and delivered the most secure border in American history,” she continued.

“The world is hearing our message: the border is closed to law breakers. Under President Trump, our Border Patrol agents are empowered to do their job once again, secure our border, and protect the American people,” Noem wrote.

The Department of Homeland Security reported that apprehensions along the southwest border dropped to 6,070 in June, marking a 15 percent decline compared to March 2025. Officials attribute the decrease to a combination of heightened enforcement, policy changes and international cooperation with neighboring countries.

The news comes after RSBN reported that U.S. Border Patrol agents did not release any migrants into the country in May, marking a dramatic shift from the 64,000 illegal border crossers allowed entry during the same month last year under the Biden administration, according to internal federal data obtained by The New York Post.

Agents encountered 8,725 individuals attempting to cross the southern border illegally in May, a 93 percent decline from the 117,905 apprehended in May 2024, according to the figures.

Acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Pete Flores attributed the sharp decrease to President Donald Trump’s reinstated border enforcement measures.

“Under the leadership of this administration, CBP has received historic support resulting in another 93% decrease in illegal crossings along the southwest border this month when compared with last year,” Flores said in a statement shared with The Post.

In its first 100 days, the Trump Administration arrested more than 151,000 illegal aliens and deported over 135,000.
