North Carolina Senate race called for Republican Ted Budd

Rep. Ted Budd, R-N.C., will win his bid for the U.S. Senate, per the Fox News Decision Desk.

As of 12:10 a.m. on Wednesday, with 95 percent of the vote in, Budd held a 50-47 lead over his Democrat opponent, Supreme Court of North Carolina Chief Justice Cheri Beasley, having received more than 1.8 million votes.

As news of Budd’s victory broke, Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., applauded her colleague via Twitter.

“Congratulations to my good friend Senator-Elect @TedBuddNC on his HUGE victory in North Carolina!” she wrote. “I was proud to support Ted!! He will be a strong America First leader in the Senate!”

Likewise, Susan B. Anthony Pro-life America celebrated Budd’s win as a win for life, noting: “Ted Budd has been an ardent defender of life in the House, defending the rights of unborn babies and advocating for the safety & security of their mothers. We look forward to seeing him continue his good work in the Senate!”
