Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes responded to a reporter’s question on Wednesday about his wife’s support of President Donald Trump.
The words followed strong media attention of Brittany Mahomes who recently received praise from Trump after standing up to online criticism of her political views.
“I think you see Brittany does a lot in the community,” the 28-year-old Super Bowl MVP told reporters, according to Fox News.
“I do a lot in the community to help bring people up and give people an opportunity to use their voice,” He said. “In political times, people are going to use stuff here and there, but I can’t let that affect how I go about my business every single day of my life and trying to live it to the best of my ability.”
“At the end of the day, it’s about me and my family and how we treat other people.”
As RSBN previously reported, Brittany Mahomes was criticized for liking Trump’s posts that called for closing the border and stopping biological males from competing in women’s sports. She later doubled down against the criticism.
“I mean honestly,” Mahomes wrote in an Aug. 13 Instagram story. “To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood.”
She added, “There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”
In another post on Aug. 26, Brittany Mahomes stated, “Contrary to the tone of the world today….you can disagree with someone, and still love them. You can have differing views, and still be kind,” she wrote. “Read that again!”
Trump took to his Truth Social account last week to extend his appreciation.
“I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country,” he wrote.
Following the presidential debate on Tuesday, pop star Taylor Swift announced her endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris. Swift is also currently dating Kansas City’s Travis Kelce, adding to tensions surrounding the political discussions.
When asked about Swift’s endorsement, Trump replied, “I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better if you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan.”
He continued, “I was not a Taylor Swift fan, it was just a question of time. She couldn’t possibly endorse Biden. You look at Biden, you couldn’t possibly endorse him. But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat. And she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace. But no, I like Brittany. I think Brittany is great. Brittany got a lot of news last week. She’s a big MAGA fan. That’s the one I like much better than Taylor Swift.”
