Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth flew south to the U.S.-Mexico border on Monday, where he joined Border Czar Tom Homan for a tour of President Donald Trump’s operation to secure American sovereignty and halt illegal alien entrants.
While speaking to Fox News during the trip, both Hegseth and Homan agreed that it would take far less than four years to secure the border completely.
“Sooner than that,” Hegseth stated. “If it takes that long, we’re not doing our job right.”
Homan chimed in, “We’re not waiting four years.”
Hegseth also noted that the federal deportation operation and border security operation would include not only stopping illegals from entering the country in the first place but finding and removing such aliens “internally.”
“We’re going to secure the country because that is national security,” he explained.
While speaking to the media during his trip, Hegseth said “mission accomplishment means 100 percent operational control of the border.”
President Donald Trump is just a little over two weeks into his second term in the White House, but he has already made good on his promise to stop Joe Biden’s catastrophic illegal immigration crisis.
Upon taking office, Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border of the United States. He also directed the Department of Defense to assist the Department of Homeland Security in “obtaining complete operational control of the southern border.”
According to Hegseth, accomplishing that goal means deploying the U.S. military and physically providing a secure perimeter at the border.
“Right now, that means a surge of manpower … We’ve seen thousands of active-duty and National Guard troops come to the border with additional assets and systems that allow us to surveil,” he told the press on Monday.
Yesterday, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum also capitulated to President Trump’s tariff negotiations and agreed to send 10,000 troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to assist American forces in stopping the flow of drugs and crime into the country.
Secretary of Defense Hegseth’s visit to the southern border also comes amid his confirmation that the DOD will indeed send up to 30,000 illegals to Guantanamo Bay, as directed by President Donald Trump.
