While election integrity debates continue to center around the 2020 presidential election and the upcoming 2024 election, a new poll found that 20 percent of voters indicated they committed one type of voter fraud in 2020.

The Heartland Institute/Rasmussen poll asked respondents if they filled out a ballot for someone else, if they voted in a state they no longer resided in, and other similar questions.

The results offer many concerns for the state of election integrity, especially since it is unclear whether those who took the survey are aware that their actions — if true — were potentially illegal.

Eight percent of respondents admitted that they were offered monetary compensation for voting. 17 percent noted that they signed a mail-in ballot for a friend or family member without that person’s permission, in some cases.

In addition, another 17 percent said they voted in a state they no longer live in utilizing the expanded mail-in ballot process.

What is most concerning is the fact that 21 percent stated that they filled out a mail-in ballot for a friend or family member. It is unclear whether the friend or family member noted were aware of this.

The survey polled voters from across party lines, resulting in a 33 percent response rate from Republican voters, 36 percent from Democrats, and 31 who identified as “other.”

The Heartland Institute’s Socialism Research Center Director Justin Haskins stated, “For the past three years, Americans have repeatedly been told that the 2020 election was the most secure in history. But if this poll’s findings are reflective of reality, the exact opposite is true.”

“Although some progress has been made in more than a dozen states since the conclusion of the 2020 election, much more work is needed in most regions of the United States,” he added.

For years now, The Heritage Foundation has been tracking election fraud cases in the United States. In addition, it also explains the vulnerabilities of the current system on its website.

This notes, “To be clear, this database is not an exhaustive or comprehensive list of all election fraud in the states.”

“It does not capture all cases and certainly does not capture reported instances or allegations of election fraud, some of which may be meritorious, some not, that are not investigated or prosecuted,” The Heritage Foundation continues.

“Preventing, deterring, and prosecuting election fraud is essential to protecting the integrity of our voting process,” the organization adds.

President Donald Trump has continuously discussed election integrity and questioned the results of the 2020 election.

On Tuesday, he posted to Truth Social about The Heartland Institute’s findings. He stated, “THIS IS THE BIGGEST STORY OF THE YEAR, AND REPUBLICANS MUST DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.”

“OUR COUNTRY IS BEING STOLEN!” he concluded.
