The American people no longer trust their election systems, a new survey from Rasmussen has found.
54 percent of likely U.S. voters believe that “cheating is likely to affect the outcome of the next presidential election, including 30% who think it’s Very Likely,” their report stated.
According to their data, 56 percent of all likely U.S. voters believe that state and federal officials are ignoring evidence of widespread election fraud. 74 percent of Republicans surveyed agreed with this sentiment, while 44 percent of Democrats agreed, as well.
After a rocky 2020 presidential election and a turbulent 2022 midterm season last year, it appears that most Americans are wary of election processes on the heels of drawn-out vote-count processes, malfunctioning tabulation machines, and reports of mail-in ballot problems.
In 2022, RSBN reported that 90 percent of Americans believed that the U.S. election system is in dire need of reform, according to a prior Rasmussen survey.
Interestingly, likely U.S. voters surveyed also indicated that when it came to choosing which political party was trusted more to protect the integrity of elections, 40 percent of respondents pointed to the Republican Party, while 39 percent pointed to Democrats.
U.S. elections systems garnered the spotlight after the 2020 presidential election when vote-counting processes were infamously stalled or elongated in places like Georgia and Pennsylvania.
President Donald Trump has previously called 2020 a “horror show” and “one of the greatest criminal acts ever.”
Election integrity has also come to the forefront of politics in Arizona. Trump ally and former gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake has continued to fight the validity of her Democrat opponent’s reported victory in the governor’s race last year.
In Maricopa County, Arizona, Lake allegedly lost the race by a margin of around 17,000 votes.
To put this in perspective, Lake alleged in her initial lawsuit against Maricopa County and then-Democrat Secretary of State Katie Hobbs that nearly 300,000 ballots received in the election had no chain of custody documentation, per RSBN.
Ongoing and unresolved issues with America’s election processes are clearly weighing heavily on the minds of U.S. voters as 2024 looms closer.
