Poll: Most Americans support Senate filibuster, up 6% from June

A poll commissioned by Senate Opportunity Fund found that the support for the Senate filibuster has grown six percent since June.

The poll also found that only 27 percent of voters believed in abolishing it and that 20 percent had no opinion at all.

Democrats have been attempting to abolish the filibuster, claiming that it is a racist institutional tool that has been used for oppression since the beginning of the United States.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., vaguely explains her reasoning for supporting the end of the filibuster is “to keep our democracy.”

Although she fails to recognize that the Democrats have used the filibuster when they were in the minority during the Trump administration, and that the disgraceful civil rights violations that have happened throughout American history were led and supported by Democrats.

Although Democrats are in strong support of suspending this long-standing tradition of the Senate, Republicans are united in keeping it.

The filibuster does not allow a simple majority to let bills pass to a vote. Currently, you must have two-thirds of the Senate in order to pass a bill into the voting stage. However, Democrats want to make it be a simple majority, so that when they are in the majority, bills that pass the House easily will just as easily pass the Senate.

Giving a speech in Georgia this week, Biden recently came out in full support of ending the filibuster. He falsely claimed that Georgia’s voting laws were going to be on the side of oppressing black Americans, and that there should be fewer voting ID laws and mail-in ballot rules.

“Voting by mail is a safe and convenient way to get more people to vote,” Biden said. “So they are making it harder to vote by mail.”

“To protect our democracy, I support changing the Senate rules,” he continued, speaking on the filibuster. “When it comes to protecting majority rule in America, the majority should rule in the United States Senate.”
