Over the weekend, President Donald Trump received a visible endorsement from a supporter. In Bedminster, New Jersey, Trump stopped to sign a supporter’s truck, which was customized with Trump’s picture and positive messages about his campaign.
The video of Trump’s signing features the truck’s driver’s side door, which is decorated with a picture of the 45th president wearing his classic red tie and giving a patriotic thumbs-up. Other details include a bald eagle and a backdrop of the American flag.
The message “Law Enforcement for Trump” is featured along the truck bed. The support from law enforcement may represent a broader trend in Trump’s campaign. Supporters have noted Trump has been able to garner support from blue-collar workers, a demographic that used to lean towards the Democratic party.
In the video, Trump is shown wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat as he signs the autograph.
“That’s a good one, very good. I had to be very careful. I don’t want to screw up your truck,” Trump jokingly said to the person filming the video.
Trump’s encounter with his supporters aligns with the trends his campaign has been experiencing in the state of New Jersey. Last month, the Trump campaign held a rally in the state, with an estimated attendance of between 80,000 and 100,000 attendees.
Bolstered by the strong turnout, Trump told the crowd his campaign was going to change the electoral map and win the state of New Jersey. Biden won the state of New Jersey by almost 20 points in the 2020 election. However, he is currently leading Trump by a significantly lower margin of 7 points.
If Trump is able to turn the tide in New Jersey, it would be the first time the state has selected a Republican presidential candidate since 1988.
