President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump attended Wednesday night’s premiere of Les Misérables at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., both resplendent in elegant attire and broad smiles as they arrived to watch the acclaimed musical.
The First Lady wore a striking black gown with gold teardrop accents and metallic high heels, smiling beside President Trump, who wore a black tuxedo.
The First Couple held hands and smiled for the cameras as they walked a red carpet at The Kennedy Center, where the president took a few questions from the press before they took their seats.
President Trump was asked what live theater production he had ever attended. He said it was probably “Cats.” The First Lady said the first-ever show she saw was “The Phantom of the Opera.”
“Are you a Les Mis fan, Mrs. Trump?” a reporter asked.
“I am,” she replied.
One reporter said that there were reports that actors were potentially boycotting the show on Wednesday evening. Before she could get to her question on the subject, Trump stated, “I couldn’t care less. Honestly, all I do is run the country well. The economic numbers, you saw that today, we’re setting records…there’s no inflation, people are happy, people are wealthy, the country is getting back.”
Kennedy Center President Ric Grenell said on X that such reports of actors boycotting the show were “fake news” and called the story “sick and manipulative and immoral.”
Vice President J.D. Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance also attended the premiere of Les Mis on Wednesday. Mrs. Vance was beautiful in a black dress with a thin silver whirling design and a sleek updo, while the vice president looked dapper in a tuxedo and bowtie.
“It’s an exciting night and I think Ambassador Grenell has done a hell of job,” Vance told the press, praising The Kennedy City president for his leadership over the past few months.
