President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that William McGinley will serve as his White House Counsel.

Trump shared the news in a post on his Truth Social account alongside a longer statement featuring McGinley’s addition to his administration.

“I am pleased to announce that William Joseph McGinley will serve as my White House Counsel. Bill is a smart and tenacious lawyer who will help me advance our America First agenda while fighting for election integrity and against the weaponization of law enforcement,” Trump wrote.

“He served in my first term as White House Cabinet Secretary and played a major role in our election victory as the RNC’s Outside Counsel for Election Integrity,” he added.

The White House Counsel serves in the role of vetting Supreme Court nominees. Trump nominated three justices during his first term, helping to flip the court to a conservative majority.

Some believe Trump may have the opportunity to nominate two more justices during his second term. If so, he will be responsible for nominating over half of the Supreme Court’s justices.

During Trump’s first term, McGinley served as the White House Cabinet secretary as well as serving as General Counsel at the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Fox News reported

The news adds to a growing list of announcements regarding the leaders in Trump’s new administration. He also said on Tuesday that he will nominate Fox News host Pete Hegseth serve as the nation’s Secretary of Defense.

“I am honored to announce that I have nominated Pete Hegseth to serve in my Cabinet as The Secretary of Defense. Pete has spent his entire life as a Warrior for the Troops, and for the Country,” Trump posted to Truth Social.

Trump also announced that he will nominate former Arkansas Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee to serve as the nation’s Ambassador to Israel.

“Mike has been a great public servant, Governor, and Leader in Faith for many years,” Trump said in a statement. “He loves Israel, and the people of Israel, and likewise, the people of Israel love him. Mike will work tirelessly to bring about Peace in the Middle East!”
