President Donald Trump lashed out at Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., during an Oval Office exchange with reporters Thursday, accusing her of lying about his stance on Social Security and suggesting she take a drug test.
The remarks came after a LindellTV reporter asked Trump about claims by Warren and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., that his administration would cut Social Security benefits. The reporter argued such claims were “terrorizing the elderly” and praised Trump’s pledge to protect the program.
“It’s so vicious what they do. Elizabeth Warren said she was an Indian. We call her Pocahontas. She’s a liar. She lied her whole career. Based on the fact that she was Indian, she was able to get into certain colleges, get certain jobs, get into certain universities to work there. She’s a liar and a mean person. She’s a nut job,” Trump answered.
Trump also criticized Warren for campaigning alongside Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic Socialist expected to become New York City’s next mayor.
“I watched her the other night. She was all hopped up, endorsing a communist in New York City. And she was all excited and jumping up and down,” Trump continued.
“She’s gotta take a drug test! She really does, she’s gotta take a drug test. There’s no way somebody can act that way and be normal.” He went on to blame Warren for policies he claimed shuttered banks in the Midwest, describing her as “a mean, horrible human being,” he added.
Trump’s tone softened toward Sanders, calling him “a very liberal guy” but “still sharp” despite his age. “With him, you know what you’re getting,” Trump said, contrasting Sanders with President Joe Biden.
Trump made the remarks during a White House event celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Social Security Act. During the event, he stated that about 275,000 illegal immigrants have been removed from Social Security during his second term.
“These are people – many of them have already left the country. And yet we were sending them checks all the time,” Trump said. “And what that’s doing is making the system strong. It’s making it strong. Biden never kicked anybody off. Everybody joined.”
