President Trump has expressed his enthusiastic support for New Jersey Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli. In a Truth Social post on Thursday, Trump praised Ciattarelli for his stances on various issues and cited polling results that show him in a statistical tie with his Democratic opponent Mikie Sherrill.
“Wow!!! A just out poll has Jack Ciattarelli essentially beating close to incompetent Mike Sherrill in the race for Governor of New Jersey,” President Trump said. “Jack is tough on crime and cutting taxes, two things that people really demand today.”
In the post, Trump referred to an Emerson College poll, which shows both candidates pulling in 43 percent of the overall vote. The poll also reflects 11 percent of New Jersey voters as undecided. Sherrill holds a wide lead with younger voters, polling at 58 percent to Ciattarelli’s 24 percent with voters under the age of 40. Ciattarelli has the advantage with older voters, polling with a 16-point lead of 52 percent to Sherrill’s 36 percent among voters over the age of 50.
President Trump noted that Ciattarelli aligns with the policy goals of his administration. In contrast, Sherrill’s policy priorities align more closely with those of the Biden administration, particularly regarding immigration and gender ideology.
“He will be a GREAT Governor, and Sherrill wants Open Borders (again!), men playing in Women’s Sports, Transgender for everyone, and all of the things that almost DESTROYED America,” President Trump said.
Trump continued by pointing out that Sherrill supported New York City Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. Sherrill has received pushback for her support of Mamdani in light of his stated socialist policy priorities, which include defunding the police and establishing government-run grocery stores.
“She is a big supporter of the perhaps future Communist Mayor of New York City! We need Jack in New Jersey!!!” President Trump said.
Ciattarelli has expressed strong support for law enforcement and has received the backing of the New Jersey Fraternal Order of Police, an organization that previously backed Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy. The gubernatorial election will be held on Nov. 4, 2025, with early voting set to begin on Oct. 25.
