President Donald Trump reacted to former FBI Director James Comey’s indictment on Thursday evening, calling it “the beginning of [Comey’s] being held responsible for his crimes” against the United States.

“JUSTICE IN AMERICA! One of the worst human beings this Country has ever been exposed to is James Comey, the former Corrupt Head of the FBI,” the president wrote in a post to Truth Social.

“Today he was indicted by a Grand Jury on two felony counts for various illegal and unlawful acts. He has been so bad for our Country, for so long, and is now at the beginning of being held responsible for his crimes against our Nation. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” he added.

Comey, who served as FBI director from Sept. 2013 until President Trump fired him in May 2017, was indicted by a grand jury on two counts, including alleged false statements within the jurisdiction of the legislative branch, and obstruction of congressional proceedings, Fox News reported.

Attorney General Pam Bondi also reacted to news of the indictment, promising that the case reflects the Justice Department’s efforts to hold those who abuse power accountable for their actions.

“No one is above the law. Today’s indictment reflects this Department of Justice’s commitment to holding those who abuse positions of power accountable for misleading the American people. We will follow the facts in this case,” Bondi wrote Thursday in a post to X.

Echoing similar comments, incumbent FBI Director Kash Patel vowed to “continue to investigate and expose” the politicization of law enforcement, as seen in the Trump-Russiagate hoax.

“Everyone, especially those in positions of power, will be held to account – no matter their perch,” he wrote in a post to X. “No one is above the law.”

Comey was previously under criminal investigation by the FBI under suspicion that he lied to Congress during his Sept. 2020 testimony about his handling of the Trump-Russia hoax as director, otherwise known as “Crossfire Hurricane,” per Fox News.

After his 2017 firing, Robert Mueller was appointed to take over the “Crossfire Hurricane” case, but after nearly two years, he found no evidence of collusion between the president and Russian officials to win the 2016 presidential election.
