President Donald Trump is leading the pack of GOP primary presidential candidates and potential contenders, managing to net massive support among Americans today who are looking toward the 2024 presidential election.
In a new poll from Cygnal conducted among likely Republican voters, President Trump snagged 64 percent of support for the Republican Party nomination, while only 31 percent indicated that they preferred “a different candidate.”
Trump commented on the poll on Truth Social: “Another great Poll just came out. 64% to 31%, I’m sure the Fake News Media will be thrilled!”
The president’s support has continued to swell among conservative voters since he left office in 2021. In fact, a recent YouGov/Yahoo! News poll indicated that Trump was leading with Independent voters in a 2024 presidential primary race with 46 percent of support against Biden’s 35 percent.
President Trump also scored the lion’s share of support at this year’s 2023 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C., in their anticipated straw poll conducted with McLaughlin & Associates. Per their survey, Trump won 62 percent of support for the Republican nomination in 2024.
Governor Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., came in second with 20 percent of support, which demonstrated a 4-point drop in support for the Florida leader from last year’s conference.
The most recent Morning Consult 2024 GOP Primary Tracker also illustrated Trump’s firm command over the field of Republican candidates, placing him with 48 percent of support against DeSantis’s 30 percent.
DeSantis has not yet announced a presidential bid. Former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy are the only other declare Republican candidates so far.
At CPAC, Haley garnered only 3 percent of support for the Republican nomination, while Ramaswamy netted 1 percent of support.
