President Donald Trump on Thursday said he has instructed U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi to pursue the release of grand jury testimony tied to the investigation of Jeffrey Epstein, pending court approval.

The announcement comes amid mounting pressure on the Trump administration to increase transparency surrounding the Epstein case. Lawmakers from both parties have called for the release of sealed materials, following renewed concerns over how the government handled its investigation into Epstein’s crimes and connections.

“Based on the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein, I have asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval,” Trump posted to his Truth Social platform. “This SCAM, perpetuated by the Democrats, should end, right now!”

Bondi confirmed her intent to act quickly, writing on X that she would “move the court tomorrow to unseal the grand jury transcripts.”

Trump has previously criticized what he described as excessive media focus on Epstein, who died in 2019 while in custody on federal sex trafficking charges. His death was ruled a suicide, but questions surrounding the case and the individuals in Epstein’s social circle have persisted.

The administration’s promise to release additional documents has sparked debate over the scope of transparency and the role of the courts in determining what can legally be disclosed. Grand jury materials are typically kept sealed under federal rules unless a judge authorizes their release for compelling legal or public interest reasons.

The news also comes as White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt highlighted an article that The Wall Street Journal published of an alleged birthday letter from the president to Epstein.

“The Wall Street Journal published a hatchet job article with a FAKE ‘birthday letter’ that is supposedly from 2003. This is like the Steele Dossier that kickstarted ‘the Russia, Russia, Russia’ Hoax all over again. The WSJ refused to show us the letter and conceded they don’t even have it in their possession when we asked them to verify the alleged document they’re basing their ENTIRE fake story on,” she posted to X on Thursday.

“When has President Trump ever spoken like the conversation alleged in the fake WSJ story? That’s not at all how he speaks or writes. The WSJ knowingly published false information to smear the President of the United States. As I said at the podium today, there is a coordinated Hoax by the Democrats and Fake News to smear President Trump — as we’ve seen throughout both of his terms,” she added.
