President Trump publicly invited Sen. Rand Paul and his wife to the White House picnic after Paul said he was uninvited.
Breitbart reported that Paul had told reporters on the steps of the U.S. Captiol that he had been informed he was uninvited from the event, saying, “I have been a intellectual opponent, a public policy opponent, and he’s chosen now to uninvite me from the picnic and to say my grandson can’t come to the picnic.” Paul had speculated whether President Trump had made this decision or his staffers.
President Trump quickly clarified that Paul was invited to the picnic via a post on the social media platform Truth Social. He wrote, “Of course Senator Rand Paul and his beautiful wife and family are invited to the BIG White House Party tonight.” He added, “He’s the toughest vote in the history of the U.S. Senate, but why wouldn’t he be?”
President Trump refers to the fact that Paul is opposed to the legislation provision that seeks to raise the debt ceiling and advocates for its removal from the bill. According to CBS News, Paul said he wants to vote for the legislation if the debt ceiling component is removed and also said, “In all likelihood, I can vote for what the agreement is on the rest of the bill, and it doesn’t have to be perfect to my liking.”
On Truth Social President Trump shared why else he is excited for Paul to attend, saying, “Besides, it gives me more time to get his Vote on the Great, Big, Beautiful Bill, one of the greatest and most important pieces of legislation ever put before our Senators & Congressmen/women.“ He added, “It will help to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
According to Breitbart, Paul reshared President Trump’s post and wrote, “This is a promising sign of things to come — and if there’s one thing @POTUS and I agree on, it’s that my wife is beautiful.”
President Trump finished his post by sharing that he is looking forward to seeing Paul and that the party is going to be great.
