President Donald Trump on Thursday participated in an event in Washington, D.C., with the newly ratified international organization, the Board of Peace, strongly focusing on diplomacy and conflict resolution.

The Board of Peace meeting in D.C. facilitated a mass gathering of world leaders, spearheaded by President Donald Trump, who have agreed to help bring stability and progress worldwide, especially amid ongoing turbulence in the Middle East.

“This meeting today is proof [that] with determined leadership, nothing is impossible,” the president said in his remarks.

He continued, “When I took office, the war in Gaza was raging with thousands of people being killed, and no end in sight. Today, thanks to unrelenting diplomacy, and the commitment of many of the great people in this room…the war in Gaza is over.”

In January, the White House announced the ratification of the charter of the Board of Peace, establishing it as an official international organization. The president also serves as the board’s chairman.

The Board of Peace’s primary aim is to oversee the tenuous ceasefire in Gaza, supervise the strip’s eventual reconstruction, and maintain its security – quite a feat for the perpetually war-torn region.

“Since the hard-won ceasefire of last October, the United States and our partners have facilitated the delivery of vast amounts of humanitarian aid…and we are very closely working with the United Nations,” the president said on Thursday.

According to comments made by U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Walz during the meeting, humanitarian aid has “surged” in Gaza since the ceasefire. “Over 70 countries are participating in our civil-military command center,” he said. “…4,200 aid trucks have entered Gaza each week for 13 weeks – the longest stretch of high volume assistance to Gaza in years.”

President Trump additionally announced the collective commitment of more than $7 billion toward the Gaza relief package from members of the Board of Peace.

“Every dollar spent is an investment in stability,” he stated.

The president also told the audience that the Board of Peace would serve as a “model” for the rest of the world in cooperating to bring conflicts to an end.

“We’re providing a model for how responsible sovereign nations can cooperate to take responsibility for confronting problems in their own regions,” he explained. “The Board of Peace is showing how a better future can be built, starting right here in this room. And I want to let you know that the United States is going to make a contribution of $10 billion to the Board of Peace.”

Importantly, President Trump additionally urged Iran to “join” the Board of Peace on a path toward stability.

“If they join us, that’ll be great,” President Trump said. “If they don’t join us, that’ll be great too — but it’ll be a very different path. They cannot continue to threaten the stability of the entire region, and they must make a deal.”
