President Trump calls for the end of the filibuster as the Homeland Security funding lapse has dragged on for more than a month.
The Department of Homeland Security has been shut down for more than a month as talks drag on, and security lines at airports are getting longer as thousands of Transportation Security Administration employees go unpaid.
President Trump has had enough of waiting for both Democrats and Republicans to negotiate and has called for the termination of the filibuster before the Democrats have the opportunity to destroy it. Fox News reports that if the GOP is able to remove the filibuster, they will no longer need Democratic votes to reach the 60-vote threshold required to end debate so that people can get paid.
Breitbart reported that in post shared to Truth Social, President Trump did not hesitate to continue to fight for voters as usual writing, “When is ‘enough, enough’ for our Republican Senators,” he wrote, “There comes a time when you must do what should have been done a long time ago, and something which the Lunatic Democrats will do on day one, if they ever get the chance.”

“TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER, and get our airports, and everything else, moving again. Also, add the complete, all five items, SAVE AMERICA ACT items. Go for the Gold!!!” He then added.
President Trump is confident that Democrats, namely Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., will accept the deal out of concern that the GOP will scrap the procedural hurdle altogether.
According to Breitbart, President Trump wrote in another post on Truth Social, “Chuck Schumer, a desperate, crippled politician, who has lost control of the Radical Left Democrats, will make a deal now because he thinks that if he doesn’t, Republicans will TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER, something which they should do whether he makes a deal or not!!!”
Fox News reports that Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., has slammed Democrats for the ongoing shutdown, saying, “They know better,” he added, “They’re asking for things that have already been turned down. So it just seems like they’re going in circles.”
