President Donald Trump said Monday he recently had an MRI exam, calling the results “perfect,” though he did not disclose the reason for the scan.

“It was perfect,” the president told reporters traveling with him on Air Force One as he headed to Tokyo.

MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) uses powerful magnets and radio waves to produce detailed internal images and is commonly used to monitor a variety of medical conditions.

Trump, 79, was already the oldest person sworn in as president when he returned to the White House in January. He is the second-oldest to serve in the office.

Earlier this month, the president’s physician said Trump was in “exceptional health” following a routine medical evaluation.

In July, the White House acknowledged that Trump had been experiencing swelling in his lower legs and bruising on his right hand after photos showed discoloration and makeup concealing the area.

At the time, physician Sean Barbabella said tests confirmed the swelling stemmed from “chronic venous insufficiency,” a common and benign circulation issue in older adults. He said the hand bruising was consistent with minor soft tissue irritation, which he attributed to frequent handshaking and aspirin that Trump takes as part of a “standard cardiovascular prevention regimen.”

Officials have continued to play down concerns about Trump’s health and have not provided details on any ongoing treatment related to the leg condition.

The White House also revealed the results of the president’s annual physical in April, noting him as being in “excellent” health.

“President Trump remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function,” said Barbabella, who performed the president’s exam at Walter Reed Memorial Hospital.

He continued, “His active lifestyle continues to contribute significantly to his well-being. President Trump’s days include participation in multiple meetings, public appearances, press availability, and frequent victories in golf events. President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.”

The physical noted that the president was currently on four medications at that time, including Rosuvastatin and Ezetimibe for cholesterol control, aspirin for cardiac prevention and Mometasone cream for a skin condition.
