President Donald Trump urged congressional Republicans to reject any agreement with Democrats to end the government shutdown unless lawmakers approve the SAVE America Act.

In a post on Sunday night on Truth Social, Trump said the legislation should be a central condition in negotiations to resolve the standoff in Congress.

“I don’t think we should make any deal with the Crazy, Country Destroying, Radical Left Democrats unless, and until, they Vote with Republicans to pass ‘THE SAVE AMERICA ACT,'” he wrote.

He added that the measure is “far more important than anything else we are doing in the Senate,” while criticizing Democrats over the shutdown dispute and proposed reductions to immigration enforcement funding.

President Trump also criticized reports of a potential agreement affecting funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

He described it as “a Five Billion Dollar cut in ICE funding, a deal which, even when disguised as something else, is unacceptable to me and the American people – UNLESS it includes their approval of Voter I.D., (with picture!), Citizenship to Vote, No Mail-In Voting (with exceptions), All Paper Ballots, No Men In Women’s Sports, and No Transgender MUTILIZATION of our precious children.”

The SAVE America Act includes several conservative policy priorities related to election procedures and social issues, including voter identification requirements, restrictions on mail-in voting and verification of citizenship for voters.

The president also called on Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., to identify Republican lawmakers who oppose the bill.

“Let Leader Thune clearly identify those few ‘Republicans’ that are Voting against AMERICA. They will never be elected again!” he wrote.

He also suggested lawmakers should take aggressive steps to move the legislation forward.

“In other words, lump everything together as one, and VOTE!!! Kill the Filibuster, and stay in D.C. for Easter, if necessary,” President Trump said.
