President Donald Trump issued a warning to the Republican Party on Tuesday as he looks ahead to the all-too-quickly approaching 2026 midterm elections in America this year.
“We’ve got to win the midterms,” the president said during remarks at the House GOP Member Retreat at the Trump Kennedy Center. “Because if we don’t win the midterms…they’ll find a reason to impeach me. I’ll get impeached.”
The president said Republicans “don’t impeach [Democrats] because they’re MEANER than we are – we should have impeached Joe Biden for a hundred different things. They are mean and smart, but fortunately for you, they have horrible policies.”
He slammed Democrat policies that facilitated the open border catastrophe under Joe Biden, as well as the incessant push from the left to indoctrinate America’s youth with transgender ideology.
President Trump told GOP members that his administration wasn’t playing party politics, but rather, “We’re doing the right thing for the country.”
As far as the midterm elections, there are still many months for the Republican Party to work to win their races, but there are many policies that must be addressed, such as the heightening healthcare premium prices and the continually burdensome cost of living.
The president ended 2025 with a comfortably favorable approval rating (50 percent), according to data from The Trafalgar Group and InsiderAdvantage. This is a good sign for Republicans, because President Trump is easily the most popular Republican in the country.
As reported by RSBN, the president is likely to travel the nation in 2026 ahead of the midterms to drum up support among the Republican base as important races loom increasingly closer.
The president’s ability to pass important legislation in 2027 and beyond will depend on the outcome of the midterm elections. Currently, the House majority has shrunk to just 218 seats, and the U.S. Senate majority is at 53-47.
