Embodying resilience and strength, President Trump issued bold responses to reporters’ questions at a Mar-a-Lago press conference after a joint announcement with House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., on Friday.
Trump and Johnson met at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach to discuss the House’s upcoming election integrity efforts. These will include a series of televised hearings in the coming months to provide Congress with an opportunity to “fact-find” as they create new legislation to secure future elections. Johnson also announced at the press conference that he would support a bill that requires proof of citizenship to vote in U.S. elections.
Following this important announcement for safeguarding elections, Trump took several questions from the press.
Addressing Friday’s breaking news about the reauthorization of FISA without the warrant amendment, Trump told a reporter, “I’m not a big fan of FISA,” before later adding he thinks “it’s terrible.” Trump reminded the media, “They spied on my campaign. You do know that, right?”
He also made sure to mention that its next vote for renewal is in 2026, which will be in the early part of his next term if he wins the November 2024 election. “We’re leading by a lot,” Trump noted.
When a reporter attempted to back him into a corner on his abortion policy, he gave a powerful response. Touting his accomplishment on Roe v. Wade, which returned the abortion issue to the states, he replied, “We did something that everyone said couldn’t be done, and we got it done. And I give great credit to the Supreme Court and the Justices for having the courage to do it.”
Democrats are the “radicals” on this issue, Trump also told reporters. “They’re willing to have abortions in the seventh, eighth, ninth month.”
Slamming extreme pro-abortion Democrats like former Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, Trump drove home the point that the radical left is seeking to legalize the disturbing practice of late-term abortion. He eviscerated their support of the “execution of a baby after birth.”
“That’s extreme, that’s radical, and nobody should have that, and it has to be ended,” said the 45th president.
President Trump addressed reports that Iran is expected to attack Israel in the near future. “They wouldn’t be attacking Israel if I were president, that I can tell you, and they never did. They wouldn’t be attacking. Iran was in no position to attack. They had no money. They were broke.”
He concluded his press conference with a stark warning: “This is a very dangerous period of time in our nation, and a big reason that it’s dangerous is that we have a president who is grossly incompetent.”
