For conservatives and proponents of America First policies, Joe Biden’s administration has been painful to watch. As inflation erodes the economy and war continues to break out overseas, it seems as if nothing but bad news is rolling in every day.

Despite the United States’ negative spiral, there have been some massive victories for America First and the MAGA movement in 2023. Here are a few of the most prominent wins this year.

Kicking off 2023 with a Republican House majority

In November 2022, Republicans netted a narrow majority in the House of Representatives after a turbulent midterm election season. Although the majority is slim (221 vs. 213), it was a major victory for the America First movement, cementing the election of strong Republican lawmakers like Rep. Kevin Kiley, R-Calif.

Although Washington, D.C., is still as swampy as ever, several standout Republican fighters have gone to the mat for Americans in 2023, including Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla.

House investigations into Joe Biden

Thanks to Republicans in the House, Americans across all political spectrums have been satisfied to see a slow and steady investigation into Joe Biden’s alleged foreign business dealings.

The investigations, spearheaded by the Oversight Committee’s Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., and the Judiciary Committee’s Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, have sparked national interest and attention into the Biden family’s alleged business associates in places like China and Ukraine.

The information that they have brought to light has been extensive, resulting in former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy’s, R-Calif., move to direct the House Committees on the Judiciary, Oversight and Accountability, and Ways and Means to open a formal impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden in September.

President Trump’s campaign goes for gold

President Donald Trump made the wishes of MAGA supporters come true in November 2022 when he announced that he would be running for president again in a bid to reclaim the White House in 2024.

In 2023, his campaign took flight, and from January to nearly the close of the year, he successfully squashed all GOP competition and eclipsed Joe Biden in general election polling.

With just weeks to go until the Iowa caucuses, Trump is in the dominant position to sweep the Republican primary election and win the nomination, setting up a historic general election next November.

Tucker Carlson goes independent

In the early spring of 2023, Tucker Carlson was booted from his primetime show at Fox News, drawing the ire of conservatives and sparking speculation about what the quick-witted news host would do next. This year, he has launched his own independent show, “Tucker Carlson on X,” which has rocketed to widespread success.

His interviews online amass hundreds of millions of views, and he has hosted guests like President Donald Trump, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, and Argentinian President-Elect Javier Milei.

Carlson’s success has illustrated the power of breaking free and embracing independent media alternatives in an alarmingly totalitarian age of censorship and suppression.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson

The House Representatives were thrown into turmoil this fall when Rep. Matt Gaetz filed a motion to vacate then-Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy’s seat. After serving as Speaker for just nine months, McCarthy lost the gavel – becoming the first Speaker in history to do so.

Although the proceedings that ensued seemed chaotic, House Republicans elected a new Speaker, Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La.

Speaker Johnson has only been on the job for a few weeks, but he has already made small steps toward proving that he could be the strong conservative fighter that Americans have been waiting for.

He strongly endorsed President Donald Trump’s reelection bid in November, and he has powerfully stated that he is a “Bible-believing Christian…go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it – that’s my worldview.”

The release of the Jan. 6 tapes

This month, Speaker Johnson released the long-awaited security tapes from Jan. 6, 2021, fulfilling the requests of many proponents of transparency who have been calling for their release for years.

Per RSBN, Speaker Johnson explained that he wanted to “restore” the trust of the American people in their government and that “truth and transparency are critical.”

His predecessor’s failure to release the Jan. 6 tapes was a sticking point with many Republican voters, but Speaker Johnson has taken a different approach by delivering on his promise of releasing the tapes just a few weeks into his speakership.
