Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene handily won the GOP nomination for GA-14 on Tuesday night despite Democrats’ desperate attempts to stop her reelection.
The Associated Press called the race for the Trump-endorsed incumbent for the Peach State’s 14th District after her lead became unmistakably clear. With 99 percent of precincts reporting on Wednesday morning, the congresswoman received 70 percent of the vote.
The victory comes after a long legal battle with Democrats attempting to knock the congresswoman off the November ballot.
Free Speech for People, a national election and campaign finance reform group, filed a complaint against Greene, arguing she violated a section of the 14th Amendment which prohibits congressional officials from participating in an insurrection.
However, a state judge ruled in favor of Greene, saying the group lacked sufficient evidence earlier this month.
The judge’s decision was finalized by the Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who decided Greene was qualified to run for reelection in the upcoming midterm election.
Greene’s resounding win in the primary signals she is likely to win her reelection bid.
