Republican lawmaker, Troy Nehls, R-Texas, praised the foresight of President Trump on Tuesday in an interview with Sean Hannity.
“Trump told the American people the truth,” said Nehls in a discussion about the invasion of illegal immigrants at the southern border. The former Texas sheriff was referencing the 45th president’s famous ride down the Trump Tower escalator to deliver his 2015 presidential candidacy speech. Without holding back, then-candidate Trump hammered away at the cowardice of the federal government for not enforcing existing immigration laws.
“When do we beat Mexico at the border,” asked Trump. “They’re laughing at us, at our stupidity.” Moreover, Trump stated that the “U.S. has become the dumping ground for everybody else’s problems.”
“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best,” he added. Furthermore, “they’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us,” said the 45th president. The real estate businessman admitted that some are probably “good people,” but not the majority. Elaborating, Trump asserted that “they’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime,” and “they’re rapists.”
Now, seven years later, “Texas is inundated” with illegal immigrants, according to Rep. Nehls. The Texas congressman stated that a daily estimate of “10,000” illegal immigrants are crossing the border.
In March, Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz stated, “Probably in the next two or three days, we’ll get over a million encounters or apprehensions along the southwest border.” Ortiz mentioned that the Border Patrol is challenged due to the influx of illegals combined with a short staff.
Rep. Nehls told Hannity that the “dishonest media called Donald Trump the racist, but Donald Trump was right all along.” Proposing a solution, Nehls closed by saying, “this is a sad state of affairs what’s happening in our country, but if we want to solve this unprecedent border crisis, we Donald Trump in 2024.”
