The Republican National Committee (RNC) successfully stopped a lawsuit to extend the voter registration deadline in Georgia, the organization announced on Tuesday.

The win came after leftist groups sought to extend the voter registration deadline less than 30 days ahead of the election as Georgia begins early voting.

“Baseless attempts by leftist groups to change election rules do nothing but undermine the security of the vote,” RNC Chairman Michael Whatley stated.

“We are committed to protecting our elections, upholding safeguards, and making it easy to vote and hard to cheat in Georgia and across the country,” he added.

The RNC explained that leftist groups filed suit against Georgia Republican Gov. Brian Kemp, seeking to extend the voter registration deadline, as set by the legislature statewide by a week, claiming it was necessary due to the impact of Hurricane Helene.

“Voters have had ample opportunity to register to vote, and there was no reason to extend the deadline across the state,” the statement asserted. “The judge rightfully denied the request in a win for election integrity. We will continue to protect the vote for Georgians and all Americans.”

The Trump campaign also shared the RNC’s statement, calling it a win for election integrity for all Americans.

The NAACP and the Georgia state conference of the NAACP expressed a statement opposing the legal ruling.

“In a historic election year, it is vital that every eligible voter has an opportunity to cast their ballot. As millions of Georgia residents grapple with the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene, Georgia’s election officials and state leaders have a duty to ensure a fair elections process,” NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson and Georgia state conference President Gerald Griggs said in a joint statement from Tuesday’s press release.

“Extending the voter registration deadline is essential to give impacted communities the time they need to recover and fully participate in the election process,” they added.

The ruling is the latest in a series of election integrity wins nationwide for the RNC. RSBN previously reported the group’s victory in Pennsylvania which the organization reported in a press release on Thursday.

The legal win was based on a controversy related to Montgomery County where ballots were sent out without required testing.

“Election officials must be held accountable, and that’s exactly what we’ve done in Montgomery County. Rules, safeguards, and laws are critical to ensuring there are no holes in the system that undermine voters or election integrity,” RNC Chairman Michael Whatley said in the press release.
