The Republican National Committee filed two election integrity lawsuits on Tuesday to stop illegal overseas voting.

The RNC sued the North Carolina State Board of Elections and Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson for allowing overseas citizens who never lived in either state to illegally vote.

“North Carolinians and Michiganders should not have their votes canceled by those who’ve never lived in the state in the first place – plain and simple,” RNC Chairman Michael Whatley said in a statement.

“This is illegal and we will stop it. While Democrats want an election system that disregards the law, we are committed to election integrity across the country,” he added.

The press release from the RNC noted that the constitutions of Michigan and North Carolina require individuals to be residents of their states to be qualified to vote. However, Benson’s unlawful guidance and an unconstitutional North Carolina statute extend eligibility to overseas voters who never resided in these states or may never have resided in the United States.

According to the statement, the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) allows residents of their state to vote absentee from overseas, but it does not expand voter eligibility to individuals who were never state residents.

“Only the residents of North Carolina and Michigan should determine elections in their states respectively. This is our fifth lawsuit against the NCSBE and sixth one against Secretary Benson this cycle alone, as the fight for election integrity continues,” the RNC explained.

President Donald Trump also highlighted the election concern in a Truth Social post on Monday.

“Lawyers at RNC — STOP THIS FRAUD, NOW!!!” he posted, including the image of a post shared by Elon Musk.

The original post, written by Babylon Bee managing editor Joel Berry, a military veteran, provided a list of “fun facts” about overseas voting.

“Through the UOCAVA/overseas program, you can register to vote online without providing ID, SSN, or proof of citizenship/address,” Berry claimed.

“You can register in any state, at any address, and no one verifies whether you have ever actually lived there,” he continued, adding, “Many states allow you to send your ballot via email.”

He also alleged that a recent Democrat memo announced a plan to collect 9 million overseas Democrat votes. According to a federal government report, there are only 2.8 million eligible voters overseas, the post stated.

The Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) confirmed the 2.8 million eligible overseas voters.

Reuters noted in August that the Democratic National Committee is investing $300,000 “to register the 9 million Americans living abroad.” The number included 1.6 million Americans from the seven battleground states living overseas.
