Following the attempted assassination of President Trump, photos and videos of a tangled American flag at the Butler, Pennsylvania, rally began circulating online.
Combat veteran and author Sean Parnell shared a photo on X, formerly Twitter, of the flag’s appearance as he spoke on the stage ahead of Trump’s remarks.
Parnell wrote, “While I was up on stage the flag did look like this. This really happened. Someone sent me this photo. I have talked to so many people who reached out to me to say this moment felt strange, surreal, spiritual an omen…I don’t know all rolled into one.”
Parnell shared a video of the flag whipping majestically in the wind, resembling an angel or an eagle.
In an earlier post, Parnell said that he believed Trump’s “natural tendency to go off script is what saved his life” as the 45th president turned his head to look at an immigration chart displayed on the jumbotron just before he was shot in the ear.
Trump made similar remarks during a phone interview with Fox News’s Brett Baier on Sunday, but like Parnell, ultimately credited God’s divine intervention for sparing him that day.
