Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., shared his thoughts about the scandalous revelations that classified documents had been located at the Penn Biden Center in 2022 and this week in Joe Biden’s garage.
According to a report from Just the News, McCarthy commented that he thought “Congress has to investigate this.” He added, “Here’s an individual [Joe Biden] that sat on ’60 Minutes’ that was so concerned about President Trump’s documents. And now we find that this is a vice president keeping it for years out in the open in different locations.”
McCarthy was elected on the 15th ballot this month to be the new Republican Speaker of the House, replacing Democrat Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California.
Speaker McCarthy further questioned the FBI’s raid of President Donald Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago last year, in which they seized some documents with classified markings. However, as president, Trump had the ability to declassify documents, while Biden, as vice president, did not.
McCarthy continued in his comments, “Why would they go after a political opponent that way? Why would they leak photos and say all this? Why would they go through the former First Lady’s clothing? Why would they go through his son’s clothing? Why would they raid in the manner which they did, at the same time, prior to an election?”
Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, jokingly quipped on Twitter, “At this point, where did Joe Biden NOT have classified documents?”
On Thursday, Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy put Biden on the spot by asking him if he had really stored classified documents in his garage, next to his corvette.
“So, the documents were in a locked garage,” Doocy said, via Fox News.
“Yes, as well as my Corvette. But as I said earlier this week, people know I take classified documents and classified material seriously,” Biden responded.
