President Donald Trump escalated his feud with Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., on Sunday by publicly accusing the longtime political rival of mortgage fraud and calling for his imprisonment.

“Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff is in BIG TROUBLE! He falsified Loan Documents. He once said my son would go to prison on a SCAM that Schiff, along with other Crooked Dems, illegally ‘manufactured’ in order to stage an actual coup,” Trump posted to Truth Social on Sunday night.

“My son did nothing wrong, knew nothing about the fictional story. It was an American Tragedy! Now Shifty should pay the price of prison for a real crime, not one made up by the corrupt accusers!” he added.

The accusation marks the latest in a series of attacks Trump has directed at Schiff, who has long been one of his most vocal critics. Schiff played a prominent role in the House’s investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 election and was a lead manager in Trump’s first impeachment trial in 2019.

Trump’s recent allegations center on claims that Schiff misrepresented his primary residence to obtain favorable mortgage rates, a charge the president says was identified by Fannie Mae’s Financial Crimes Division. In a previous post on July 15, Trump accused Schiff of a “sustained pattern of possible Mortgage Fraud.”

“And now I learn that Fannie Mae’s Financial Crimes Division have concluded that Adam Schiff has engaged in a sustained pattern of possible Mortgage Fraud,” Trump wrote at the time.

He further alleged, “Adam Schiff said that his primary residence was in MARYLAND to get a cheaper mortgage and rip off America, when he must LIVE in CALIFORNIA because he was a Congressman from CALIFORNIA.”

In a post on X, Schiff dismissed Trump’s claim as a “baseless attempt at political retribution,” linking the accusation to the president’s ongoing disputes with past investigators.

“And much as Trump may hope, this smear will not distract from his Epstein files problem,” Schiff added, referring to criticism surrounding the Trump administration’s failure to release sealed court documents related to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
