President Donald Trump weighed in on the “deadly” situation in Ukraine after the first day of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine Thursday.
Once again, Trump emphasized, “If I were in Office, this deadly Ukraine situation would never have happened.” Trump’s latest statement echoes his statement about the Russian invasion on Fox News this week, “It wouldn’t have taken place, and it wouldn’t have taken place right now. And it’s a very sad thing for the world, for the country, and it’s certainly for sad for a lot of people that are gonna be needlessly killed.”
RSBN has reported Russian military forces have undertaken a full-scale invasion of Ukraine with land, aerial, and sea assaults. Ukraine’s Health Minister Oleh Lyashko announced late Thursday that at least 57 people had been killed and 169 wounded in the first hours of Russia’s invasion. However, those estimates could rise considerably over the next several hours.
Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has described Russia’s aggressive actions as a “deliberate, cold-blooded and long-planned invasion” that is a “blatant violation of international law.” Stoltenberg has also called Russia’s invasion of Ukraine “a brutal act of war.” NATO’s alliance leaders plan to meet on Friday in response to Russia’s attacks.
With NATO still deliberating different courses of action, Biden addressed the nation Thursday, announcing the United States’ next steps to counter Russian aggression.
During his address, Biden said, “Let me say it again: Our forces are not — and will not — be engaged in the conflict with Russia in Ukraine.” Instead, Biden announced he is placing new economic sanctions on Russia and deploying additional U.S. military personnel to Germany.
The 45th president has repeatedly expressed his disappointment in how the United States has handled the threat of Russia under the Biden administration. With war breaking out in Europe, Trump has stated, “As an American, I’m angry about it, and I’m saddened by it, and it all happened because of a Rigged Election. This would have never happened.”
Trump has also said, “If properly handled, there was absolutely no reason that the situation currently happening in Ukraine should have happened at all.”
The deadly situation in Ukraine could have likely been prevented if the weakness of the Biden administration did not embolden America’s adversaries. As the world watches the eastern European country fighting desperately to defend itself against the power of Russia, people are beginning to express their frustration that the 45th president is not in office to project American strength instead of American weakness.
As President Trump explained, “the deadly Ukraine situation would never have happened” if American leadership had remained strong.
