In a Sunday Truth Social post, President Trump called attention to particularly damning remarks made about Vice President Kamala Harris by one of the most radical senators in Congress.
“Bernie Sanders just said that Kamala only changed her Marxist policy positions for the Election — She’ll change back very quickly!” Trump wrote.
In a follow-up post, the 45th president remarked on the inconsistent messaging coming from the Democratic Party and the Harris campaign.
“Bernie Sanders really threw Comrade Kamala Harris under the proverbial ‘BUS.’ Essentially said, very clearly, that she is a total phony. Once a Marxist, always a Marxist!” Trump wrote.
During the interview, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., reassured NBC that Harris had not suddenly become a moderate but was instead being “pragmatic” to sway voters.
Sanders said, “No, I don’t think she’s abandoning her ideals. I think she’s trying to be pragmatic and doing what she thinks is right in order to win the election. My own view is slightly different. I think that in America today there are a lot of people, rural people, working-class people who no longer believe that the United States Congress and government represents their interests, who are dominated by big-money interests.”
He continued, “So I think that there is something wrong personally when we are the only major country on earth not to guarantee health care to all of our people, despite spending twice as much per capita. That is why I support Medicare for all.”
The host then asked Sanders, “Do you consider Vice President Kamala Harris to be progressive, senator?”
Sanders bluntly responded, “I do.”
The clip quickly spread on social media and caught the attention of Georgia Republican Governor Brian Kemp.
The two-term governor shared the video on X with the caption, “Even Bernie Sanders knows the obvious: Kamala Harris will say whatever it takes to win the election. Hardworking Americans aren’t falling for it.”
Trump’s campaign recently slammed Harris in a statement after her top campaign spokesman correctly said that her views on fracking have not changed. Harris has long supported a fracking ban and has made multiple public remarks regarding the matter.
Harris also recently flip-flopped on her support for Medicare for All, a plan she backed while serving in the Senate. Her campaign told a Fox News correspondent in early August that there would not be a campaign push supporting the radical idea.
The topics will likely make it to the debate stage on Tuesday when Trump and Harris go head-to-head for the first time since she became the Democratic presidential nominee.
