Trump announces potential action to end sanctuary cities, prioritizing public safety

As President Trump continues to keep his promises since being back in the White House, his next potential policy will further enhance the prioritization of public safety by ending sanctuary cities.

On Thursday, President Trump told reporters that he has potential plans to end sanctuary cities that are harboring illegal immigrants and putting the lives of citizens at risk. Breitbart reported that he told reporters, “They’re guarding criminals. They’re taking the rights away from the citizens of the state and the city.”

He added, “And we’re going to be ending sanctuary cities, if we find it necessary to do, in certain major areas, and we may just end the entire thing altogether.” President Trump explained that the only people who actually benefit from these cities are criminals.”

The target sanctuary city is Boston. Earlier in March, President Trump’s border security law enforcement officer, Tom Homan, warned that he was going to Boston and would bring hell with him. Breitbart reported that during his visit, he oversaw 370 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests, which included foreign fugitives wanted for murder, drug trafficking, child abuse, and numerous other violent public threats.

Democratic Mayor Michelle Wu doubled down on her stance on standing with illegal immigrants. The New York Post reported what Wu said about US Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations, “No one tells Boston how to take care of our own, not kings, and not presidents who think they are kings. Boston was born facing down bullies.” Now, she is under fire from local leaders for her stance.

Homan slammed the city of Boston on X after overseeing the arrests, saying, “They would rather release these animals back into the community rather than honor ICE detainers or notify ICE when they are scheduled to be released.” He also wrote, “Governor Healy and Mayor Wu should be ashamed of supporting sanctuary policies.  Releasing public safety threats back into the public, rather than working with ICE at the jails, puts the public at great risk.”

Both President Trump and Homan will continue to prioritize the safety of American citizens where others won’t.
