U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart, who initially approved the FBI search warrant for President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, will not be handling Trump’s “special master” request. Instead, Trump-appointed U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon has been assigned to oversee the request.
According to The Epoch Times, Cannon, appointed by President Trump and confirmed by the Senate in 2020, will handle Trump’s legal team’s request to appoint a “special master” to review seized documents to “preserve the sanctity of executive communications and other privileged materials.”
Trump’s request filed on Monday also included a protective order enjoining the government from reviewing documents, as well as asking they provide a detailed Receipt for Property and return seized items that were not within the warrant’s scope, according to court documents.
The filling follows Trump’s announcement that “a major motion pertaining to the Fourth Amendment” would soon be filed, RSBN previously reported.
“A major motion pertaining to the Fourth Amendment will soon be filed concerning the illegal Break-In of my home, Mar-a-Lago, right before the ever important Mid-Term Elections,” President Trump said.
