Trump believes ‘Pelosi and Dems are responsible’ for Jan. 6

President Donald Trump in a statement on Monday claimed Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and other Democrats are responsible for what took place in Washington D.C. on Jan. 6.

“There would have been no January 6, as we know it, if Nancy Pelosi heeded my recommendation to bring 10,000 Soldiers, or the National Guard, into the Capitol,” the 45th president contended. “End the Unselect Committee January 6th Witch Hunt right now.”

The 45th president’s statement concluded by labeling Pelosi and Democrats responsible for the events of Jan. 6. He wrote, “Pelosi and the Dems are responsible!”

Recently, Trump questioned Nancy Pelosi’s handling of Jan. 6, asking, “Why is Crazy Nancy Pelosi and her files, which reportedly have been largely destroyed and deleted, not under investigation for not properly securing the Capitol with Soldiers or the National Guard that were strongly recommended to her by me and others?”

“If she did with security what she should have, there would have been no ‘January 6’ as we know it,” he reiterated.

Trump has repeatedly criticized Nancy Pelosi for refusing additional security measures on Jan. 6. Instead of answering for their refusal of additional security measures, Democrats have used the Capitol riots as a political opportunity to attack the legacy of President Trump and the Republican Party.

This topic has consumed the news cycle since Trump’s January rally in Texas, where he discussed his potential ability to pardon Jan. 6 prisoners who were unfairly treated if he runs and wins in 2024. Since that rally, Democrats have continued to push their Jan. 6 committee investigation forward in an effort to destroy Trump’s political future.

Jan. 6 has also dominated recent headlines as Trump and Pence have publicly disagreed on the role of the vice president in certifying the 2020 presidential election. Trump released a statement claiming that Mike Pence could have overturned the election. Mike Pence, however, did not reject the electoral votes that day, prompting the 45th president to write, “Unfortunately, he didn’t exercise that power, he could have overturned the Election!”

At a recent event in Florida, Mike Pence responded to Trump’s claim, stating, “This week, President Trump said I had the right to ‘overturn the election.’ But President Trump is wrong.” He added, “I had no right to overturn the election.”

As Nancy Pelosi remains unrelenting in her investigations into the 45th president, Trump continues to remind Americans that securing the nation’s capital was Pelosi’s responsibility.
