If New York Attorney General Letitia James thinks President Donald J. Trump is going down without a fight, she can think again, according to Trump’s legal team.

Per Fox News, James filed a lawsuit Wednesday against Trump and several of his businesses, associates, and family members, alleging “numerous acts of fraud and misrepresentation.”

In response, Trump attorney Alina Habba fired back with a statement that expressed both disdain for James and confidence that the president would prevail against the scurrilous allegations.

“Today’s filing is neither focused on the facts nor the law – rather, it is solely focused on advancing the Attorney General’s political agenda,” Habba said. “It is abundantly clear that the Attorney General’s Office has exceeded its statutory authority by prying into transactions where absolutely no wrongdoing has taken place. We are confident that our judicial system will not stand for this unchecked abuse of authority, and we look forward to defending our client against each and every one of the Attorney General’s meritless claims.”

The Trump camp’s response did not end there, as Trump family members and associates took to social media to put James on blast.

“New York’s radical Attorney General Letitia James is using her office to attack President Trump just 48 DAYS before her own election,” the Trump War Room account tweeted. “These politically-charged witch hunts will FAIL!”

In a video attached to the tweet, James can be heard unethically assuring her supporters that she would “definitely sue” Trump if elected.

In another tweet, Donald Trump Jr. referred to the lawsuit as a continuance of the “witch hunt” against his father, sharing additional footage of James promising to go after Trump, whom she claimed to be guilty of “colluding” and violating the emoluments clause.

On Truth Social, the president himself had a few choice words to share regarding the lawsuit, contending that it was James who is, in fact, the fraud.

“Another Witch Hunt by a racist Attorney General, Letitia James, who failed in her run for Governor, getting almost zero support from the public, and now is doing poorly against Law & Order A.G. candidate, highly respected Michael Henry,” Trump said. “I never thought this case would be brought – until I saw her really bad poll numbers. She is a fraud who campaigned on a ‘get Trump’ platform, despite the fact that the city is one of the crime and murder disasters of the world under her watch!”

In August, Trump invoked his Fifth Amendment rights to defend against what he saw as an immoral and unjust attack.

“When your family, your company, and all the people in your orbit have become the targets of an unfounded, politically motivated Witch Hunt supported by lawyers, prosecutors, and the Fake News Media, you have no choice,” he explained. “If there was any question in my mind, the raid of my home, Mar-a-Lago, on Monday by the FBI, just two days prior to this deposition, wiped out any uncertainty. I have absolutely no choice because the current Administration and many prosecutors in this Country have lost all moral and ethical bounds of decency.”

Describing James’ investigation as a “vindictive and self-serving fishing expedition,” the president vowed to use his constitutional rights to defend against all attacks on himself, his family, his business, and the United States.

“We cannot permit a renegade and out-of-control prosecutor to use this investigation as a means of advancing her political career,” he noted. “New York deserves better, and this Country deserves better.”
